Join the BC Delegation to Attend Hot Docs Forum & Market 2017 in Toronto

Hot Docs, North America’s largest documentary festival, offers an outstanding selection of over 200 films from Canada and around the world to Toronto audiences of more than 200,000.

This year BC producers have an opportunity to attend Hot Docs as part of a BC delegation to the Forum and Market.

Delegates will be able to get the Network & Conference pass at the $450 discounted price (from the regular price of $645). There are also a maximum of 10 discount All Access Passes that would be valid for the code as well at the $600 discounted price (from $895). This is available on a first come, first serve basis.

Passport to Markets

Creative BC also have a competitive Passport to Markets call out for funding to attend the Hot Docs Forum and Market. Creative BC is able to provide travel support for up to ten BC residents to a maximum of $1,500, to offset market registration, travel and accommodation costs.

Deadline to apply is March 24, 2017.

Summary of Important Deadline Dates

  • February 28 - Early Bird registration deadline.  It is anticipated that All Access passes will sell out by this date.
  • March 10 – Deadline to register and receive Network & Conference accreditation
  • March 20 – Deadline for projects submitted to the Digital Doc Shop to be received in the Hot Docs’ office
  • March 27 – Distribution Rendezvous submissions deadline (please note, delegations   must be registered for Hot Docs before they can apply for Distribution Rendezvous)

Delegation members should arrive by Sunday April 30th and arrange to depart either the evening of Thursday May 4th or the morning of Friday May 5th in order to participate in all the key opportunities available to the delegation.

The BC Delegation at Hot Docs will include the following components:

Hot Docs Forum and Festival Registration:
All members of the delegation can register with either a discounted Network & Conference (N&C) Pass or All Access Pass. This includes full access to the Hot Docs Festival screenings, conference and social events. Hot Docs sells a limited number of passes, and in order to guarantee receipt of a pass, all delegation members must be registered by March 10, 2017.

Distribution Rendezvous:
Delegation members also have access to apply to our Distribution Rendezvous meetings with top level distributors, sales agents and festival programmers. In order to apply to these programs delegation members will need to have completed registration.

International Co-Production Events:
Delegation members are featured attendees at these special events which feature producer-to-producer networking meetings and a variety of panels on topics such as co-production case studies and regional updates. There will also be networking opportunities such as the International Co-Production Luncheon and a private cocktail reception.

International Co-Production Luncheon:
This private luncheon gives delegation members a chance to network with other Canadian and international producers who are interested in finding co-production partners. The luncheon is free for all delegation members.

Featured Index for BC Producer’s Projects in the digital Doc Shop market:
Each BC delegation member can submit one free film to the Doc Shop, Hot Docs’ on-demand digital video library for international buyers and programmers. Each additionally submitted program will receive a 50% discount off the regular submission fee. All submitted films will be featured in a prominent playlist on the website’s homepage. The deadline to submit films for inclusion in the Doc Shop is March 20th.
