BC’s Animation Industry builds on Canadian reputation at Kidscreen
February 16, 2016

Canada, and British Columbia, were well represented at the 2016 Kidscreen Summit, one of the world’s leading children’s entertainment content markets.

Nine Canadian corporations, along with associations and provincial agencies including Creative BC, pooled their resources to feature Canadian productions and build business relationships at this important event.

“BC has an active and dynamic group of animation companies who are creating engaging screen-based content that is seen by young audiences around the world," said Prem Gill, CEO of Creative BC.

"DHX Media, one of the participating companies in Kidscreen, is up for seven 2016 Canadian Screen Awards including best animated program or series for Endangeared Species and Slugterra as well as Best Pre-School Program or Series for Kate & Mim-Mim, work that is all created from their Vancouver studio. Other companies that attended Kidscreen from BC included Atomic Cartoons, Big Bad Boo Studios,  Kickstart, Rainmaker Entertainment, Slap Happy Cartoons,  Waterproof Studios, and Yeti Farm Creative, who are located in Kelowna," she added.

Canada has established itself as a leader in producing engaging children’s programming - in both English and French - for feature films, television series, video gaming, mobile apps, tv commercials, and music videos.  Canada's strong presence at Kidscreen Summit 2016 will further build our brand reputation.
