June 11, 2014

The International Animation Film Market (Mifa), held in Annecy, France, is the leading industry event in the world of animation with a history of over 30 years. This year the event is taking place from June 9-14.

Attended by over 7,000 accredited professionals from 80 countries, and over 110,000 tickets sold to buyers, distributers, investors and journalists, the industry gathers in Annecy every year. Over four days, the conference serves as a forum for information for industry professionals, includes film screenings, and showcases over 470 exhibitors.

This year, for the first time ever, a city will have the opportunity to showcase its industry and that city is Vancouver! At past Mifa events, only countries were offered this opportunity but for the upcoming 2014 festival, Vancouver industry leaders in our community convinced the organizers that this city’s animation industry merits its very own platform!

We invite you to be part of the Vancouver showcase at Annecy 2014 and help us get the reach and impact that Vancouver deserves.

The Vancouver Focus, which includes a panel presentation and project showcasing, will highlight the world-class work being both created and produced in Vancouver, business opportunities in co-production and expansion, as well as the infrastructure that supports our thriving industry. While the over-arching theme is currently being crafted, the message will be strategic; strong and united.  The Vancouver Focus will have a captive audience of 100 persons or more, many of whom can be directly invited by Vancouver studios using Mifa’s list of accredited attendees.
