"8x10: The Sweet Hereafter" short film premieres

After months of hard work, tears and dedication we're proud to unveil the three winning films from our "8x10: The Sweet Hereafter" contest...soon.  The concept of the contest is simple; we give you 8 lines from a famous Canadian feature film (this time Atom Egoyan's The Sweet Hereafter), and your challenge as a filmmaker was to craft a new 10 minute script that used that dialogue as inspiration.  Once again, the results are varied, thought-provoking and unique and we're very proud to be supporting the work of these Vancouver artists.  On May 28th, you'll be able to  see that originality for yourself as we'll show all three films back to back, followed by Egoyan's feature in its entirety, and you'll hear those same lines of dialogue spoken four times in four completely different contexts.  Don't forget that your opinion counts, and that at the intermission we'll be taking votes for the Audience Choice award for best short.

With your brain full of great cinematic experiences, join us next door in the Cineworks studio for post-screening bash with a cash bar (featuring Driftwood Beer) and beats from DJ Rel!g!on.  Meet the filmmakers and have a great time!
