CRAZY8S DGC-BC SCREENING FUNDRAISER

January 28, 2016
Rio Theatre, Vancouver, BC

Jon the Crazy8s and the DGC-BC at their 17 Year Anniversary Screening and Fundraiser in support of the Crazy8s Films Society. The evening will feature a curated selection of both classic and recent Crazy8s shorts as well as a chance to rub elbows with their alumni, community of friends and sponsors, and this year’s crop of filmmakers (and perhaps a chance to talk to them about crewing up and casting opportunities!).

SIX WINNING TEAMS

This year’s short films are a cutting-edge collection featuring ghostly grandparents, exciting grocery store action sequences, romantic serial killers, stylish sci-fi explorations of time and space, a diversity of sexual orientations and desperate wannabe parents. The six winning teams are:

A Family of Ghosts:  Shannon Kohli (Director/Writer), Rob Meekison (Producer)

Grocery Store Action Movie: Matthew Campbell (Director), Peter Carlone and Chris Wilson (Writers), Jameson Parker, David Kaye and Ryan Silva (Producers)

I Love You So Much It’s Killing Them:  Joel Ashton McCarthy (Director/Writer), Mike Doaga (Writer), Nach Dudsdeemaytha and Marena Dix (Producers)

Iteration 1: Jesse Lupini (Director/Writer), Lucas Kavanagh (Writer), Arshia Navabi and Mert Sari (Producers)

Meet Cute: Patrick Currie (Director/Writer), Brendee Green (Writer),  Michele Picard (Producer)

Trying: Shauna Johannesen (Director/Writer), Lulu Pan (Producer)

Teams now have only a few weeks to prepare in advance of their production start date of February 12th. From that time, they’ll have just eight days to shoot, edit and post their films, with $1,000 cash and significant in-kind assistance generously provided by the local film community.  The finished films will premiere February 27th at the Gala Screening.

Creative BC is proud to be a presenting sponsor of the Crazy8s Short Film competition.
