IF I HAD WINGS
Sixteen year old Alex Taylor dreams of flying. He also dreams of running for his high school's cross-country track team. Both dreams seem equally out of his reach, as Alex has been blind since the age of two. Alex, determined to run, practices with his father, Probation Officer Geoff Taylor. Geoff, with additional girth and age working against him, finds that he no longer can keep up with his son, a very gifted runner. He must find a running partner at the school fast enough to help Alex make the cross-country team.
MLA Jane Thornthwaite states, "If I Had Wings is an excellent made-in-BC film, directed, produced and starring local actors. It is a film about antibullying, positive role models for First Nations and rising above adversity. This is a great film for youth – both in and out of school – and really for all ages."
ABOUT NATIONAL FILM DAY
National Film Day takes place on April 20, 2016 to celebrate and showcase Canadian film across all platforms – in-theatre, broadcast and online.
This year, there will be more than 250 public and private events held across the country, including this special screening of If I Had Wings.
National Canadian Film Day is presented by REEL Canada and is supported by Cineplex, CBC, film festivals, industry organizations, movie clubs, schools, broadcasters and creative agencies. Its goal is to bring Canadians together around great cinematic stories and to showcase our national identity through film across the country.
