Project Name: Wollstonecraft Detective Agency - Online
Wollstonecraft.com is an online portal for young audiences promoting science, math, history, literature, and computational literacy through interactive puzzles and games. As part of a larger transmedia brand, the site complements the internationally acclaimed children’s book series - The Wollstonecraft Detective Agency - and an upcoming puzzle-adventure game set in the same universe.
Featuring a young Ada Lovelace (the world’s first computer programmer) and Mary Shelley (the world’s first science fiction author), the series follows the adventures of two girls through a 19th-century world of gadgets, contraptions, and intrigue, as they solve mysteries for clients of their secret detective agency. The site will feature an interactive simulation of the world’s first mechanical computer, designed by Charles Babbage and recognized by Ada Lovelace as the first general-purpose computing device. Players will learn the history of this fascinating device, including how punched cards were used for programming, how the binary number system works, and ultimately, how to create instructions and solve puzzles using the machine.
The ultimate goal of the Wollstonecraft universe is to promote science, math, and computational literacy to an upcoming generation of brilliant young girls, teaching them how to break through societal norms and pursue their dreams despite any circumstances. The Wollstonecraft.com portal aims to become a resource for students, parents, and educators, providing tools and activities for inquisitive minds.
The web-based nature of this new project means adding an expert in interactive online content and a UX/game designer to the company’s team. Hololabs also consult with an educator experienced in teaching STEM-based (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects in elementary schools.
