The Carbon Literacy Course focuses on unique, engaging and solutions based training session offering attendees the information and inspiration to live and work in a more sustainable way. Across the 6-hour workshop, delegates can expect to be challenged with engaging presentations, fun (yes, fun!) activities and the space to reflect and plan. Upon successful completion of the day, attendees will:
- have a sound understanding of the science of climate change
- understand how to act to reduce their impact
- recognize the impact that production has on the environment
- have knowledge of the tools and techniques to lessen this impact
December's Carbon Literacy course was hosted by IATSE 669 and facilitated by Green Spark Group's President and Founder Zena Harris. 15 participants attended the course. Participants noted that the course was helpful and informative to understand the filming industry’s impact on the environment.
“Much of what I learned is quite relevant to my role at work and to the various clients we service. Biggest thing learned: A better understanding of a film production company's environmental impact.”
Julie Bernard, Manager, Production Services at Creative BC, also attended the course; “I found the course to be very inspiring especially having the opportunity to engage with different experts in the industry. Seeing them empowered in becoming new Green Ambassadors getting the word out there about how important sustainable best practices are. I’m looking forward to seeing how this course will grow and evolve by paying it forward with good intention and innovation.”
All courses are free for members of the industry. Anyone who works in the film or television production industry would benefit from taking this course to help understand how everyone- from crew to suppliers/vendors plays a role in helping to solve the real challenge of climate change.
