THE OKANAGAN STARS IN SHOWCANADA 2019 Canada’s Annual Movie Industry Conference Heads to Kelowna June 4-6

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 13, 2019…The Okanagan Valley will feature prominently when movie industry and studio executives descend on Kelowna, BC for ShowCanada 2019, June 4-6.

Produced by the Movie Theatre Association of Canada (MTAC), ShowCanada is an annual conference bringing together all sectors of the film industry from Canada and the USA. Delegates from film exhibition and distribution gather for an opportunity to network, screen movies and upcoming product, attend seminars and celebrate the magic of movie-going.

The annual conference changes destinations every year with 2019 being the first time that Kelowna will act as the host city.

On the selection of Kelowna for 2019, Nuria Bronfman, Executive Director of MTAC commented, “our delegates look forward to experiencing new parts of Canada and our American delegates get particularly excited as we often bring them to locations they would not normally see. Kelowna has definitely garnered a huge level of interest – partly because we’ve never hosted here but also because Kelowna and the Okanagan have such a thriving film community; we’ve had amazing local support and look forward to introducing our delegates to this beautiful city and, of course, to all the fabulous wine.”

The 2019 conference will feature several Kelowna locals and lots of Okanagan flavour. Highlights of the 2019 schedule include:

- Ashley Ramsey, Founder & CEO of Yeti Farm Creative, and John Delaney, Editor-In-Chief of Komixstream will participate in a panel featuring innovative content creators

- A keynote address, supported by Creative BC, features CBC’s newest ‘Dragon’, FreshGrade CoFounder & CEO Lane Merrifield - Chef Chris Shaften joins forces with the Delta Kitchen to present a 5 course wine-paired opening night dinner - Multi-Platinum Singer

-Songwriter Andrew Allen appears at the opening night cocktail and afterparty - And the conference closes with an evening at the iconic Mission Hill Family Estate

Regular features of the annual conference return including studio presentations, an awards celebration honouring the best in theatre promotion, a tradeshow and a “state of the industry” panel. Registration details along with a full schedule can be found at showcanada.ca.
