Creative Industries Week 2021, From Local to Global in Motion Picture Production: A Very BC Production
April 9, 2021
On Thursday, April 15th at 3 to 4 PM PST, the Motion Picture Production Industry Association of BC (MPPIA) will convene the Creative Industries Week 2021 edition of its Town Hall panel series.
In this session, BC’s production community and its vital partners will gather to hear from some of the unseen yet indispensable contributors to BC’s motion picture production industry, and take time to collectively appreciate the team effort that put BC’s production sector safely back to work amid the ongoing public health crisis.
MPPIA is proud to gather representatives from production, business and local government to discuss the local impacts of the global pandemic on the industry – and in particular the deliberate and mindful considerations that were mobilized by all concerned to ensure that production could safely resume in 2020.
This event will be hosted by Peter Leitch, Chair, Motion Picture Production Industry Assn. of BC and moderated by Katharine Pavoni, Provincial Film Commission at Creative BC. Panelists include Kathleen Gilbert of the Victoria Film Commission, James Monk of the Surrey Film Office and Jina Johnson of the DGCBC Locations Caucus. The Provincial Minister, The Honourable Melanie Mark, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture & Sport (TACS) or Parliamentary Secretary for Arts & Film, Bob D’Eith as well as MPA Canada President Wendy Noss will be attending the event.
This is a great opportunity to learn of the industry/ government partnership that helped BC’s motion picture industry contribute to economic recovery in the Province. Watch the live stream on the MPPIA Facebook Page:@mppiabc.
