More B.C. movies like The Adam Project? Netflix extends agreement with Langley’s Martini studios

Apr 1, 2022

Ted Sarandos, Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer, says B.C. ranks as one of the Top 5 locations for studio work because of the local talent and “stunning topography.”

Netflix is extending its lease agreement with Canada’s largest film studio, Martini Film Studios of Langley Township, for five years.

The Wednesday announcement comes less than two years after Netflix signed a lease agreement with Burnaby’s Canadian Motion Picture Park — which cements the streaming service’s footprint with studios in B.C. and helped contribute to the $3.4 billion in film and TV production in the province in 2020 despite the pandemic.

Netflix’s No. 1 movie for more than two weeks has been the Vancouver-filmed The Adam Project, starring Vancouver’s Ryan Reynolds in a wisecracking, swashbuckling role in a production that employed a cast and crew of 1,200 and supported more than 150 local businesses.
