Amplify BC delivers $600,000 to support music companies in British Columbia

May 25, 2023

Vancouver, BC (May 25, 2023) – Today, Creative BC proudly announces 34 provincial Amplify BC grants through the Music Company program (the Program) totalling $600,000 distributed to recipients across the province.

The Program supports business development for a wide range of music companies, including record labels, recording studios, booking agencies, production houses, guitar manufacturers, and online platforms. Grants will help grow businesses, build capacity, create new jobs, and invest in new infrastructure and equipment.

Applications were scored according to the priorities of the program, including economic impact, investment in B.C. talent, innovation, and support for equity-deserving groups who experience systemic barriers to industry participation. Creative BC together with panels of industry professionals representing a variety of genres, industry backgrounds, regions and demographics, selected the successful recipients of the Music Company program.

The Music Company program is part of the Province of British Columbia’s $22.5M three-year commitment to Amplify BC, now completing its second year of delivery through Creative BC. These provincial funds are part of B.C.’s $10 Billion COVID-19 response and focus on protecting the music industry’s infrastructure and assisting the survival of festivals, venues, live music presenters, and music companies in B.C. On April 19, 2023, the Province announced a historic investment into B.C.’s creative sector, including another $22.5 million for Amplify BC to build the province’s music talent and help launch careers, extending the Province’s music fund programs until 2027.
