The Motion Picture Production Industry Assn. of BC (MPPIA) invites BC’s production industry community to gather on Zoom for learnings in Decolonization led by Kim Haxton (Potowatomi) of Elevate Inclusion Strategies in Part Three of a special Town Hall presentation series:

Part Three: Lateral Liberalization, Nov. 17, 3 pm to 4:30 pm PST

Welcome Remarks: Shyam Valera, MPPIA Equity & Inclusion Committee Co-Chair

Keynote Presentation: Kim Haxton (Potowatomi), Elevate Inclusion Strategies

Kim Haxton specializes in cross-cultural interpretation, applied decolonization & lateral liberation, as well as nature & land-based education.

“We are at a critical juncture right now – the future depends on literacy of the past understanding the structures and systems that bind us, so that we can make the shifts from cultures of make believe – a dominant culture that is steeped in a colonial narrative that are exclusionary and divisive – to one that supports and nourishes ourselves, each other and the worlds around us.” – Kim Haxton

This opportunity is the third in an educational series taking place in 2021 in three, two-part modules.  Each narrative session is the precursor to limited capacity training sessions that explore the learnings in more depth.  The second session for this third and final module  in the series will take place on Sunday Nov. 28 from 1 pm to 4:00pm PST, registration link to come following the narrative session.
