May 27, 2018
June 30, 2018

The SCGC invites members in the Vancouver area to attend
a four-part series on writing for and recording strings.

We are thrilled to host renowned film composer Bruce Broughton, who will be leading a seminar and recording session at The Warehouse Studio.

Participants will enjoy a day-long workshop with Mr. Broughton that focuses on string scoring and considerations when writing for live players. Two evening events will be dedicated to the technical aspects of session preparation and perspectives from other members of the production team. The series will culminate with a recording session at The Warehouse Studio, where Mr. Broughton will return to guide the recording of each member’s score. Participants will write a cue over the course of the workshop series and will enjoy countless opportunities to hear and receive feedback from well-respected industry professionals.
Bruce Broughton is a multi-award winning composer of film, TV, video games, and concert works. His extensive portfolio of music includes Tombstone, The Rescuers Down Under, Silverado, and Tiny Toon Adventures. He recently composed the opening theme for Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville and has taught at USC, UCLA, and the University of North Texas College of Music. Mr. Broughton is also a past president and founding member of The Society of Composers & Lyricists. Although currently living and working in Los Angeles, he continues to offer his expertise around the world and mentors many aspiring and established composers.
