WORKING WITH THE MOTION PICTURE INDUSTRY FAQs
If your company does not fit the above criteria, there are still ways to connect with the industry. Below are some common questions the Provincial Film Commission receives regarding marketing products and services to the motion picture industry.
HOW CAN I GET THE WORD OUT TO THE MOTION PICTURE INDUSTRY ABOUT MY SERVICES/PRODUCTS?
Start by putting together a one-pager with information about your organization, the services or products you provide, contact information, etc. It is helpful to include photos of your product or service in action.
Use Creative BC’s In Production list to email your one-pager to mostly union signatory projects currently working in BC.
To connect with non-union commercial projects, you can reach out to the Commercial Production Association of Western Canada’s member directory for Production Companies.
WHAT IS THE IN PRODUCTION LIST?
Creative BC maintains an In Production list of projects currently working in the province. The list is updated weekly and, where applicable, includes contact information for each project’s production office.
The production office fields inquiries for all departments. It is highly recommended you contact the production office via email rather than over the phone. To help get your one-pager into the right hands, address the subject line of your email to the attention of the department that is best served by your product or services.
DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO BUILD UP MY CLIENT BASE?
Reach out to the film department that would be best served with your product or service (i.e. the Art Department, Set Decorating Department, etc.). Develop good business relationships by connecting directly with Department heads and crew.
