About This Course

In partnership with the Canadian Media Producer's Association, Reel Green™ is offering a free Carbon Calculator training as part of the STAR Producer Program. CMPA members and non-members can attend this free training session.

Derived from one of the motion picture industry’s leading carbon calculators, albert, Reel Green™ has adapted a carbon calculator, for free, for film productions to use.

Additionally, with more available data points we can also derive economic benefits of going green on production!

The albert carbon calculator tool is available free for all productions to use. It has helps streamline the process of inputting and collecting data needed to calculate carbon impact. Multiple productions can be tracked on this tool, and having a single data hub helps to develop benchmarks for productions to work from and improve upon.

Astrolabe Musik Theatre, in partnership with SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs, is proud to present the Canadian premiere of UK composer George Benjamin's chamber opera Into the Little Hill, a lyric tale in two parts.
A modern re-telling of the Pied Piper tale, Into the Little Hill tells of a mysterious stranger who rids a town of its rats, only to make its children disappear when his promised payment is withheld. Timeless and contemporary, it asks: Who do we deem as “rats” in our society? What are we willing to do to get rid of them? And what are the consequences when we refuse to “pay the piper”—refuse to accept responsibility for the outcomes of our actions?
Into the Little Hill features Chinese-Canadian mezzo-soprano Emma Parkinson, hailed as an “outstanding voice” (La Scena Musicale); soprano Heather Pawsey, acclaimed for her “stylistic versatility, clarity, range” (Halifax Chronicle Herald); and well-known Vancouver-based dance artists Juolin Lee, Daria Mikhaylyuk and Hana Rutka. Renowned conductor Leslie Dala (Vancouver Bach Choir, Vancouver Opera) is Music Director, with direction and choreography by internationally-recognised Idan Cohen of Ne.Sans Opera and Dance. The lighting design is by Victoria Bell, with costume design by Elena Razlog. Post-performance talkbacks are moderated by award-winning multi-disciplinary artist Valerie Sing Turner.
This multi-disciplinary production seamlessly fuses the shimmering beauty of this chamber opera by George Benjamin—one of the most significant composers in the world today—with compelling contemporary dance.
Creative BC is proud to have funded Astrolabe through the Career Development program.
