General Courtesies
- All productions are expected to have and abide by employer safety plan and any relevant Provincial Health Orders.
- Producers, cast and crew will follow the stipulations of their film permit, a copy of which must be on location at all times.
- Filming only takes place during the times listed on the permit unless extensions are granted by the relevant permitting authority and are indicated on the permit.
- Treat the general public, communities and regions in which filming takes place with respect.
- Producers must notify the public in writing whenever production activities may directly affect or disrupt their daily lives, as approved by the permitting authority. Notification must include contact information for the production.
- Production is responsible for properly managing and responsibly disposing of all waste materials.
- Locations must be returned to original or better condition. Any known damage should be reported immediately.
- Removing or cutting signs or plants from any public or private location is prohibited unless permission is expressly granted by the location owner.
- Any activity on private or public property must have permission from the Locations Department, including any set dressing, equipment staging, or access of any kind.
Parking
- Production vehicles must not arrive before the time stipulated on the permit and should turn their engines off as soon as possible.
- Production and crew vehicles should avoid idling to reduce emissions.
- Cast and crew vehicles must park in designated parking areas only. Parking outside the designated areas impacts neighbourhoods and reflects poorly on the industry.
- Production vehicles, equipment, set dressing, etc. must not block driveways, fire hydrants, accessible parking spaces, or gated access without permission.
- Offensive, objectionable imagery or material should not be present in or on production vehicles or equipment.
- Any private vehicle parked in an area permitted for production use can only be removed by the appropriate authority. Crew cannot relocate private vehicles to accommodate filming activity without permission.
Cast and Crew
- Crew must remain within the boundaries of the property that has been permitted for filming. Trespassing on private property is illegal and unacceptable.
- Consumption of alcohol or drugs, whether legal or illegal, on public property or designated production areas is not allowed.
- Must follow smoking restrictions and always dispose of cigarette butts in the appropriate containers.
- Must be served their meals and eat in the designated areas.
- Shall keep noise as low as possible at all times, and refrain from using lewd or improper language.
- Shall not wear clothing that includes offensive or objectionable imagery or material
- Attire must comply with appropriate employee safety regulations and will wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and clothing as required by WorkSafeBC.
- Will have production identification visible on their person as required.
- Will not bring guests or pets to the location without advance permission from the Locations Manager or Unit Production Manager.
- Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in a warning or action taken by the relevant authority.
