Shining a Spotlight on BC’s Talent at the 2016 Canadian Screen Awards

Some of the many television nominees include Bahama Blue, which showcases a stunning underwater world where everything is eating, or being eaten, Motive, the top rated Canadian crime series, Ice Pilots, which describes the adventures of the renegade Arctic airline Buffalo Airways, and Endangered Species, the animated series about the colourful antics of a bunny, squirrel and seagull living in a certain tree stump.

Feature films that received nominations include Eadweard, a psychological drama centered around world-famous turn-of-the-century photographer, Eadweard Muybridge who became the godfather of cinema, Deepha Mehta’s Beeba Boy’s, a powerful story about Indo-Canadian gang wars and Songs She Wrote about People She Knows, an off-beat musical comedy about losing friends by singing songs about them.

Presented annually by the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television, the Canadian Screen Awards play an important role in recognizing the achievements of Canadian talent as well heighten public awareness and increase audience attendance, viewership and appreciation of Canadian screen productions.
