The Reel Green™ Circular Economy committee was born out of the need to create resources and provide guidance for circular economy initiatives in the motion picture industry. The committee engages with industry stakeholders, vendors and crew to discuss barriers and solutions to adopting a circular business model to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint.

Our Priorities
The Circular Economy Committee supports sustainable production in B.C. by creating resources, developing a public communication hub for material reuse, and providing guidance to create more circularity initiatives and discussions in the B.C. motion picture industry.

 

Circular Economy

Redefine the production process to be circular and prioritize material reuse. 

Built Environment

Ensure that all studios, stage owners/operators and suppliers have a circular material management plan and share it with productions.

Production Support

Pursue robust supplier engagement to increase the number of Reel Green Vendors that provide green supply chain options for production.

Our Actions + News

Join the Reel Green™ Circular Facebook Marketplace, which provides a platform for film industry members to sell, donate, source, and share information, supplies, materials, set decoration, props, across British Columbia. This group is a central hub for film industry members (construction, set decorators, props, costumes, hair/makeup, production managers, etc.) to share any circular economy information or resources, where we highlight green vendors and their services, and a place for productions to share their reusable materials.

Reel Green™ offers free Sustainable Production Training online for the motion picture industry. Learn how motion picture production contributes to climate change and how to adopt best practices to reduce the environmental impact of production.
