Creative BC brings a strategic and integrated approach to the growth and development of the province's creative industries.
  • Land Acknowledgment

We acknowledge that Creative BC's offices are on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples–-Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh & Musqueam First Nations. We respect the land and honour this tradition of land acknowledgment that dates back centuries for Indigenous people. With this acknowledgment, we thank those Indigenous people who still live on and care for these lands.

    LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Creative BC is situated and operates on the unceded territory of Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Creative BC contributed funding to the development of On-Screen Protocols and Pathways: A Media Production Guide to Working with First Nations, Métis and Inuit Communities, Cultures, Concepts and Stories, commissioned by imagineNATIVE and the Indigenous Screen Office. Based on the concepts of respect, responsibility, reciprocity, and consent, the intent of the Protocols and Pathways document is to support Indigenous narrative sovereignty. We are committed to working with Indigenous creators to foster a vibrant screen sector in Canada that recognizes the inherent rights of Indigenous peoples to their stories and cultural practices.
